Denver Art Students League Watercolor Classes Announced!

Here are the my upcoming Classes and Workshops I will be teaching at the Denver Art Students League this Fall 2018:

“Introduction to Painting in Watercolor” Class

Monday Evenings • Sept. 10 - Oct. 29, 2018 • 6pm - 9:30pm Get started with the fundamentals of watercolor painting. Learn to choose the right papers, paints, and brushes. The color wheel, mixing colors, values, direct painting, wet-0n-wet, dry brush and washes will be explored. Register Here » Ability: Beginner “Fun With Flowers in Watercolor” Class

Tuesday Afternoons • Sept. 4 - Oct. 23, 2018 • 1pm - 4:30pm

Get intoxicated with bright colors and bold compositions. Learn the basics of building a strong flower painting as you study flower and leaf forms, background, brushwork, and lighting. Tuesday Nights • Sept 11 - Oct. 30, 2018 • 6pm - 9:30pm No matter what the weather, capture the spirit of nature painting sunlight, shadows, trees and skies. Learn to organize the scene with value patterns. Study the time of day, lighting situations, weather conditions, and seasons of the year. Reference material will be provided or use your own. Basic watercolor knowledge is required. Register Here » “Color Theory For Watercolor” Class

Tuesday Afternoon • Oct 30 - Dec. 18, 2018 • 1pm - 4:30pm Push your experimentation with color to the limit in this color laboratory. Investigate your paints and learn about advanced color mixing, pigment characteristics, and color temperature. Research when and how to use transparent, opaque, granulating, and staining colors. Each session will focus on a color family utilizing the still life. Come discover and develop your own personal color vocabulary. Register Here » Ability: Intermediate, Advanced “Features and Faces in Watercolor” – 7 Week Workshop Monday Evenings • Nov. 5 - Dec. 17, 2018 • 6pm - 9:30pm With each feature, learn drawing, placement, color mixing, where to use warm and cool colors, how to make eyes look round and wet, etc. Move from features to building the face from inside out and finishing with portraits.
