Online Watercolor Workshop: The Art of Composition
Join Dennis for his next Online Watercolor Workshop titled:
The Art of Composition: Arranging The Pictorial Space
ONE-DAY ONLINE WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
Friday, February 12, 2021, 10 am-2:30 pm
As painters, we wonder why some pieces work and others do not work. Often we think that rendering a subject as we see it will ensure a good painting. We never take the time to learn the rules of composition that “everybody knows” when in fact they don’t.
Do you have paintings that are not as satisfying as they should or could be?
Do you know how to analyze and improve a work gone wrong?
Are your paintings predictable and look like everyone else’s?
Great compositions don’t just happen! This workshop will teach you the mechanics of building a successful painting. You will learn different techniques to help position things on the paper. Study core compositional concepts as you:
UNDERSTAND HOW TO PLACE DOMINANT AND SUPPORTING FOCAL POINTS.
UNDERSTAND HOW TO UTILIZE VISUAL WEIGHT.
UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENT COMPOSITION STRUCTURES AND HOW TO MANIPULATE YOUR DESIGN.
UNDERSTAND THE DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIPS OF THE FRAME AND HOW POSITIONING CAN AFFECT WHAT WE WANT TO CONVEY.
AND A LOT MORE!
You will be receiving a workbook in the mail that you can use for future reference. The workshop is limited to 8 - 10 people to ensure a positive Zoom experience. I will announce the second workshop date should this one fill up.
