Tuscany Bedroom Watercolor Painting

I taught a ten day watercolor workshop in Tuscany and this is one of the bedrooms at our charming lodging. I was intrigued by the light coming through the window and the light from the lamps which created interesting cast shadows on the walls. It was a hot sunny day and I was glad to be painting in the cool interior of the farmhouse. The rich darks of the wooden beds contrasting with the light on the bedcovers was fun to paint and I was glad one of my friends left an open book on the bed. When I am in a beautiful place like Tuscany I find it hard to settle down and paint because there is so much to see and do. On the other hand, when I do settle down, painting is as much fun as sightseeing.
