Venice Afternoon Watercolor Painting

verywhere you look in Venice there are more things to paint and this is a view from one of the many bridges that cross all the canals. It was an overcast day so the light stayed the same for most of the afternoon. Venice has so many interesting moods and I wanted to capture the feeling of a lazy afternoon where only an occasional boat moved in the canal and stirred the reflections. This Fall I’m teaching a class at the Art Students League of Denver titled “Paint Venice With Dennis In Watercolor” and I will be able to use so many of the pictures I’ve taken of this beautiful city. The masks I collected from Winter Carnival will make great props and it will be fun teaching what I’ve learned about painting the colors and moods of Venice.
