Venice Cargo Watercolor Painting

In venice everything moves by boat or by foot. This man was a typical workman with his sleeveless t-shirt and straw hat. An outfit worn by workmen only in Venice. The weathered buildings rising up out of the canals are wonderful subjects and the bridges are perfect vantage points for artists. So many artists have painted in this mystical city and it is a particular favorite of watercolor painters. The first time I went to Venice I stayed a whole month and I wondered around the city day after day looking for subjects like this. The best part was getting of the main tourist paths and discovering how the Venetians lived their daily lives. They were curious about my paintings and I got to know some of them and I have never met more friendly and fun loving people.
